Living Area

Relaxation is assured in the light, bright an airy open plan living area with its plush; deep comfortable sofas strewn with scatter pillows. Sit back and enjoy cable TV/DVD or listen to your favorite CDs. Glass sliders lead out on to a large balcony that has a patio dining table and chairs for informal dining in the open air.

The dining area in the tower has antique finish table, chairs and traditional style china cabinet with some interesting accents. There is a desk in the corner providing you with a quiet area to deal with e-mails, write postcards to friends or make a phone call.

A hand made oak staircase leads up to the next floor.

Kitchen

If, after a busy day at the beach or around the pool contemplating whether to sample one of the many excellent local restaurants, use the barbecue grill to cook out by the swimming pool or to eat in, you eventually decide to eat at the villa - the kitchen is fully equipped. As this will be the largest decision of the day here in paradise, it is well worth taking your time to reach a conclusion (take a swim and lie in the sun while you are thinking about it).

Pop down to Publix for some great steaks or the nearby Cortez fishing village for fresh seafood, salads, fresh vegetables and the best bakery in Florida. The kitchen has maple wood cabinetry and a full range of appliances including dishwasher, range, refrigerator/freezer and microwave. Cabinets contain dishes, pots, pans, silverware and small appliances.

The washer, dryer, iron and ironing board are housed in a separate laundry room.

Bedrooms

All of the bedrooms have TV, thick, comfortable pillow top mattresses and good quality linens.

The Master Bedroom Suite 1 has a huge king size antique style pine bed, private bathroom and a large closet with a couple of twin pillow topped mattresses stores in case you have a couple of extra visitors. Glass sliders lead out on to a private balcony with loungers for relaxing quietly with an early morning coffee or escaping for a quiet read in the afternoon.

The romantic Master Bedroom Suite 2 in the tower has a king size poster bed, large closet and private bathroom with a large oval whirlpool spa tub for two and a shower. Bedroom 3 has two twin beds and a private bathroom.

Bathrooms

All of the bathrooms have exclusive and expensive bathroom fixtures from Heritage Bathrooms, imported form Europe. They are all based on original designs from the 1920s and fixtures include traditional style wash basins, roll-top baths and bidets.

Master Bathroom 1 has a beautiful antique style roll top cast iron bath tub & Victorian style traditional shower fixture. There is a separate shower of tile & glass. The flooring in this bathroom is glazed Saltillo tile.

Master Bathroom 2 differs in that it has a large elegant oval spa tub for 2 with custom trim & shower. Bathroom room 3 has a shower.

Bathrooms are all supplied with freshly laundered towels.

Outside

Drive through wrought iron gates and pillars topped with cast decorative lighting. The driveway, walkways and around the pool are all topped with Roman style brick pavers and the landscaping is lush and full of flowering tropical plants incuding bougainvillae, hibiscus, oleanders. Tall palms sway in gentle breezes while you relax by the pool. The island's pool company visits twice a week to ensure that the heated pool is kept in the best possible condition for guests.

Just three minutes' walk from your front gates lies the gorgeous stretch of seven miles of white sand beaches that string out along Anna Maria Island's west coast. There is a great little place here called Cafe on the Beach - they serve breakfast that you can eat with your toes in the sands - try their all you can eat pancakes with maple syrup and butter and a dish of fresh fruits or go for the "full Monty" of eggs, bacon and fries washed down with limitless cups of coffee.

The trolley stops here so you can ride up and down the island free of charge and if you do want to have your car close by for elderly relatives or very small children then there is parking under the pine trees.

'The Pink House' as our girls called it was a wonderful place to stay, reminiscent of the south of France(minus the food and wine - American food is generally dreadful). It is spacious, comfortable and attractive. The only problem we had was that the pool was not heated as advertised. The pier and beaches are beautiful. The sand is like white demerara. We were surprised to see the island described as underdeveloped, as almost all available space is built on. However it is testament to the charm of the villa that one hardly notices how crammed in the properties are. There is a wonderful array of wildlife on and around the island - this will be our abiding memory I think. I can recommend the villa and the island, unless one is travelling from Europe, in which case it is a much shorter flight to the south of France where you will find infinitely better food and wine.
