Almost Perfect

We’ve been renting properties like this for 6 years. We had a great time (2 couples) at Anna Maria again this year; we love the proximity to the beach, the Cafe, shopping, trolley, etc. We did, however, have some issues with the house.

The bedframe in the larger upstairs BR broke on us the first night, but a call to Anna Maria Vacations got a repair guy out ASAP and he did a masterful job of fixing and shoring up the old wooden bedframe. Why the frame is not metal is beyond me.

The slider leading out to the back porch from the dining area was something else entirely. The door sections do not align and an improperly aligned set of screw holes are employed to use a single metal screw as a locking mechanism. When trying to close the slider on our first day, the handle snapped right off! That part had to be ordered, so we had to deal with the bothersome task of trying to align the holes in the center of the slider to accommodate the screw to lock it! Evidently this has been an ongoing issue as there is a sign on the door to use the improvised locking system. When we finally got a repair guy to look at it during our last few days, the door sections were just screwed together, making the door, a second means of entry /exit, completely unusable. Sorry folks, this is second rate at best! That slider needs to be replaced entirely. Yeah, that is an expense, but it is an owner responsibility to ensure the safety of the occupants. A lot of money flows in from the rental stream – some must go back out to properly maintain the property (in addition to the other expenses involved). Didn’t mean to go on at this length, but an otherwise excellent experience at Villa Florence was marred by a door that should have already been replaced.

Hello Bill,

Thank you for letting us know about your stay at Villa Florence.  We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay with the exception of the slider door issue and the bed frame.  Though we are glad that we were able to take care of the bed frame right away, we apologize for the inconvenience it may have caused.  Please keep in mind that these are privately owned homes and though we do our best to ensure your stay is uninterrupted by any issues, just like with your own home, things unfortunately do come up.  It is not a matter of the homeowner not wanting to invest back to the property or lack of care for the comfort or safety of their guests, but a matter of getting the appropriate vendor to come out, diagnose the issue and order parts & schedule a time to fix the problem.  In order to fix the sliding door, we had to have the  vendor order and replace the lock and place the glass back on track which was completed on June 23rd, 2016.

Again, we apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused and hope that we will have you stay with us for your future Anna Maria Island vacation needs.
