What happens when you combine mouthwatering delicacies with great music, fantastic atmosphere and gorgeous art? Food and Wine on Pine of course! The 6th Annual Food and Wine on Pine is this weekend, Saturday May 7th from 11:30am until 6:30pm. This island event will showcase the best wine, art, food and music the local area has to offer and you simply won’t want to miss it! Enjoy an upscale culinary event that highlights 25 of the areas locally owned restaurants. It doesn’t stop there! Pair your choices with a variety of over 30 wines and craft beers. Did we mention already that this is an event you won’t want to miss?
As if the mention of food and wine doesn’t already have you hooked, you will be happy to find that there are various art attractions planned throughout the day, including a juried art show with over 30 local fine artists showcasing a variety of mediums ranging from watercolor, fused glass to metalwork. Not a single detail has been overlooked to make this a fabulous family friendly event. Bring your little ones to enjoy a children’s art and activity area!
Actors will be amongst the crowds, dressed in period costumes telling the tales of Anna Maria Island’s history. There will be musical performances all day long ranging in different genres with something for everyone to enjoy. This year, the event falls on the same day as the Kentucky Derby and in honor a special tent dubbed “Pine Avenue Downs” will be televising the races and will offer chance betting with prizes. Enter the hat contest, indulge in a derby drink or partake in the various derby themed activities to celebrate in style.
This family friendly affaire is expected to draw in a crowd of over 8,000 people! The cover charge to get in is $5.00 and children under the age of twelve are invited to attend at no cost. Food and beverages can be purchased using a ticket and the cost per ticket is only $1.00. Parking is provided for free at the Anna Maria Island Community Center and at the Crosspointe Fellowship Church with free trolley rides taking you all the way up to Pine Avenue.
All this fun and for a great cause too! The event proceeds will benefit local art and culture non-profits and the beneficiaries include the Anna Maria Island Concert Chorus and Orchestra, The Center of Anna Maria Island, the Historic Society of Anna Maria and many more!
