Anna Maria island is known for its ability to retain its antiquated charm and really allow its visitors to enjoy laid-back Florida. You won’t see much of the high-rise condos and shopping malls, but what you will find is plenty of quaint boutiques and family restaurants scattered along the soft white sanded beaches and glittering gulf waters. You can enjoy a spectacular sunset while overlooking the Tampa Bay in the morning or a serene sunset that overlooks the Gulf of Mexico towards the evening. You will find that the turquoise Island Trolley will take you the entire stretch of this beautiful 7-mile island free of charge, dropping you off at any one of the 80 conveniently located trolley stops to dine, shop or just stroll along the historic streets of Anna Maria Island.
Anna Maria Island Shopping
The heart of Anna Maria is now Historic Bridge Street on Bradenton Beach, one of the southernmost cities on Anna Maria Island. Bridge Street, was the only means of access in and out of the island and in its place today, stands a beautiful fishing pier. Bridge Street is a walkable community that offers you incredible water views from both the pier and the gulf as well as ample opportunity to shop and dine while you have fun. Although you may arrive by way of the free trolley as a guest, you will leave as a friend of Bridge Street.
