January 23, 2026
When you picture dessert on the beach, you may imagine a cooling treat like ice cream or a snow-cone to help you beat the heat. More than likely, crepes aren’t the first thing on your mind. But on Anna Maria Island, the Island Creperie has long been a dessert staple for visitors and locals alike. The rich history of this French dessert combined with the unique varieties offered by this company all draw guests again and again, and it’s simply a can’t-miss experience while you’re vacationing on Anna Maria Island. Here is everything you need to know about the Island Creperie.

About The Island Creperie
The Island Creperie brings a touch of France to the shores of Anna Maria Island. Of course, this local business specializes in crepes, both sweet and savory to satisfy any taste. You’ll also find other classic selections available throughout the morning and afternoon, so you can stop in for a delicious breakfast or a quick treat after lunch.
The History of Crepes
Crepes are very thin pancakes that originated in France. The name comes from a Latin term crispa, meaning “creases.” This pastry also belongs to a category that the Greeks named tiganos, or “frying pan.” Traditionally in France, crepes are served on February 2nd, or Candlemas. This day was originally honored as Virgin Mary’s Blessed Day, but with the invention of the crepe, it is now known as National Crepe Day. Tradition goes that tossing a crepe from the frying pan and catching it in your right hand while holding a gold coin in the opposite hand will bring riches in the year to come.

The Menu
Both savory and sweet varieties of crepes are offered at the Island Creperie. Try a buckwheat crepe like the Popeye Buck filled with spinach, the American Buck with ground sirloin, ketchup, and an egg, or the Cheese Buck if you’re feeling extra decadent. You can also partake in traditional crepes with honey, sugar, and maple syrup. Other than crepes, you’ll find French delicacies like tartines and French toast. No matter what you choose, your entree will cost you less than $10 and will keep you satisfied all morning.
