As the weather warms up and the spring events begin, there’s plenty to do in the area. Just step outside one of our beachside Anna Maria Island rentals and head to one of these events that mark the start of the season.
Below are four fascinating, fun, and attractive Anna Maria Island events you can find for the whole family.
The Anna Maria Island Art League is known for running this creative arts and crafts festival, along with an “encore” festival for the winter season.
Spring Fest is March 10th and 11th, at City Hall Field in Holmes Beach. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both days. You’ll find unique items that are handcrafted by local artists. Picking up something special from this great springtime event can give you memories of your Anna Maria Island vacation for years to come.
There will be community groups setting up informational booths on the environment in the area. There’s also a gala raffle of some artwork donated by local artists. The funds raised from the raffle go to benefit the Art League’s scholarship fund. Admission and parking are free for this family-friendly event.
Beach Bistro’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade
This parade is one of the best events in the area, especially if you’re Irish and want to get into the St. Patrick’s Day spirit. You’ll find traditional Irish step dancers, bag pipers, and of course a lot of green. Hosted by Beach Bistro every year, the whole thing kicks off from the Eat Here restaurant (5315 Gulf Ave). Then it heads north through Holmes Beach and ends at 85th street.
The event starts at 4 p.m. on Sunday March 18th. This parade is considered some of the biggest ones in Florida, and features high school bands, floats, mascots, and more. A master of ceremonies generally leads the parade through the streets. It’s an appropriate St. Patrick’s Day event for all ages, and one that will make your Anna Maria vacation memorable.
Beach’N Food Truck and Music Festival
This day-long festival is one of the things happening every spring near our beachside Anna Maria Island rentals. It all happens on April 14th on Coquina Beach, on the southern end of Anna Maria Island, along the beautiful gulf waters and gorgeous beaches.
The family fun festival features local bands performing live all day. You can also find tons of vendors offering jewelry, local artwork, collectibles and more. There’s also a kid’s zone set up with a bounce house and games.
Also at this festival you’ll be able to experience the Bill Mergens Memorial Car Show, featuring more than 100 classic and custom cars on display from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
The whole event lasts longer than that, going on until 8 p.m. To keep you going through the evening, there are also a variety of food trucks with local dishes. There’s no fee to get in, and there’s lots of free parking near the beach.
Blue, Brews, & BBQs
This is another popular social event for April held in the historic Bridge Street area of Bradenton Beach. Taking place on April 22nd from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m., this event features outdoor music, cold beer, and yummy food.
Transforming the island’s popular Bridge Street, you’ll get to taste, sip, and listen to all that makes this area fun to be in. Jam out to the live music all day and try some great local food.
The event is just $5 a person, and kids under 12 years old are free. Proceeds from this event go to benefit a local food pantry. There is also an onsite food drive. Bridge Street can be easily accessed via the island’s free trolley, but parking may be limited the day of the event.
